Lab Testing at Washington Wellness Center

Lab testing is a very important part of our functional medicine approach, and Dr. Taylor is an expert at interpreting functional labs. Lab testing can tell us exactly which processes are malfunctioning so that we can aim at and hit the right targets. Lab testing also gives us a baseline so we can objectively measure your improvement. While we respect everyone's budget, a bulk of the expenses are spent upfront on lab testing.

We charge wholesale prices on all lab tests, plus a $50 Interpretation and Recommendations fee for our "Practice Members", and we charge a $100 Interpretation and Recommendations fee for our Non-Members. Wholesale prices are often 1/4 to 1/10 of the "List Price", or the price that would be billed to your insurance.

We require that you become a client at Washington Wellness Center to obtain lab testing. Apply via Functional Medicine Consultation options below.

While you can come to our clinic just for lab testing, most of our clients come to us with specific health conditions or goals, and to help them solve their "health puzzle" we are going to require a combination of labs. For example, someone with Celiac Disease and Hashimoto's we may want to see a Labcorp Panel and two Cyrex Panels, for someone with anxiety we may want to see a Labcorp Panel and an Organic Acids test.

Our lab testing is very customized, and Dr. Taylor chooses from a wide and varied toolbox depending on your exact needs. Here are some examples below.

FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE CONSULTATIONS:

LAB EXAMPLES

-Labcorp - Dr. Taylor typically runs a wide array of tests through standard bloodwork, looking very deep at tests like a CBC, CMP, Vitamin D3, homocysteine, C-reactive protein, full thyroid panel, iron/ferritin, autoimmune diseases, infections, and much much more. Labcorp testing typically runs from $200-$500 initially, and follow-up testing typically runs anywhere from $75-$200.

-Urinary Organic Acids Testing - Organic Acids testing can tell us many many things, including vitamin deficiencies, detoxification defects, neurotransmitter imbalances, and gut "dysbiosis" markers. We now use the Great Plains Laboratory OATs Testing because it does a great job showing possible yeast or fungal exposure related to Candida overgrowths and Mold Toxicity.

-Food Sensitivity Testing - We use Cyrex Food Sensitivities testing exclusively. Dr. Taylor used to dabble in less expensive tests that are available but found they aren't reliable. Cyrex is the gold standard in food sensitivity and autoimmune reactivity testing.

-Autoimmune Reactivity Testing - Dr. Taylor often wants to know if a person has autoimmune disease, and will use Cyrex testing to look for tissue antibodies to things like stomach, thyroid, joints, adrenals, pancreas, connective tissues, or neurological tissues like the brain. When there is one autoimmune disease process occurring there are often multiple other!

-Digestive Testing - Digestive testing varies depending on the patient. It can be very helpful to look at a stool test for GI inflammation, pathogens like parasites, or overgrowths like Candida or SIBO, and we often use either the GI Effects from Genova or the GI Map from Diagnostic Solutions. Dr. Taylor also looks for digestive autoimmunity, and intestinal permeability testing (Cyrex Array 2) quite often.

-Hormone Testing - While popular in the general public, Dr. Taylor doesn't do hormone testing very often, because most of his patients know they have hormone issues, and our goal is to look for the root cause of WHY the hormones are imbalanced. The exception to that is thyroid hormone testing and adrenal hormone testing, which he does quite often. When he does look at hormones he likes to see a comprehensive picture of ALL the reproductive hormones, best done through a Dried Urine Test of Comprehensive Hormones.

-Mold/Mycotoxin Testing -  Mold is often a diagnosis of history and exclusion, but for verification Dr. Taylor likes to use Urinary Organic Acids Testing from Great Plains Labs or he uses Urinary Mycotoxins testing from both Great Plains Labs and RealTime Labs. Occasionally Dr. Taylor will want to see inflammatory markers from a CIRS panel, a popular mold treatment protocol.

-"Other" Testing - Sometimes we have to look for bigger, deeper, hidden triggers of chronic health conditions like heavy metals, Lyme disease, or others. We have lab testing options for (almost) all conditions!
